U14/U16 RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Teams in the U14/U16 age group will be divided into separate leagues for boys and girls.

  • Roster Size: 11-18 players.

  • Players on field: 11v11 including goalkeepers.

  •  Ball Size: 5.

  • Field Size: Approx 110 yards x 70 yards.

  • Goal Size: 8 feet x 24 feet.

  • Coaches ARE REQUIRED to have player cards and game cards. Game cards should be any

    printed document with first and last names of each player printed. The template for this may be unique to each club. Player cards must have photos attached or printed using GA Soccer Affinity system and must be laminated. Digital photos are required in the Affinity system.

  • Coaches may Club Pass players from U12 Rec teams or other U14 Rec teams within the club in the event of a shortage of players for a game; U14 Rec teams within the club for U16 Rec teams. Player cards are required for these players.

  • Any red cards received, coach ejections, or spectator ejections should be reported to your club’s Rec Interleague coordinator who will then report these to the League Administrator (Craig Cunningham). At minimum, the player will receive a one-game ban to be served at the following game in street clothes. Coach or Spectator Ejections will be handled on an individual basis with the club’s Rec Interleague administrator and the League Administrator.

  • Game Duration: 2 halves, 35 minutes each. 5 minute half-time.

    • Free Subs (at GA Soccer regulated stoppage of play; e.g., goal kicks, throw-in’s offensive

      teams may substitute, etc).

    • Players should be at midfield and off the playing surface until the center referee indicates they may enter the field of play.All players must play 50% of each half and preferably 3⁄4 of a game.

  • Offside rule will be in effect.

  • Penalty kicks will be taken at a spot 10 yards from the goal line.

  • Throw-ins will be utilized to restart play when ball goes over touchlines.

  • Goal Kicks: placed in goal area.

  • One center referee and two assistant referees will be scheduled to officiate each game. Club linesmen may be requested by away team in the event of one or zero AR’s. See new Georgia Soccer rules regarding referees.

U12 RULES & REGULATIONS

· Roster Size: 9-15 players.

· Players on field: 9v9 including goalkeepers.

· Ball Size: 4.

· Field Size: Approx 80 yards x 60 yards.

· Goal Size: 6 feet x 18 feet.

· Coaches ARE REQUIRED to have game cards. Game cards should be any printed document with first and last names of each player printed. The template for this may be unique to each club. Player cards (not required) but will have photos attached or printed using GA Soccer card stock and must be laminated. Digital photos are required in the Affinity system.

· Coaches may Club Pass players from U10 Rec teams or other U12 Rec teams within the club in the event of a shortage of players for a game. Player cards are required for these players.

U10 RULES & REGULATIONS

The following is a summary of rules for this age group.  

·        Teams in the U10 age group will be divided into separate leagues for boys and girls.

·        Roster Size: 7-12 players.

·        Players on field: 7 vs. 7 including goalkeepers.

·        Ball Size: 4.

·        Field Size: Approx 60 yards x 40 yards; minimum 55 yds x 35 yds, maximum 65 yds x 45 yds

·        Goal Area:  8 yards x 4 yards

·        Penalty Area:  24 yards x 12 yards

·        Goal Size: 6 feet x 18 feet.

·        Coaches ARE REQUIRED to have game cards and ARE NOT required to have player cards.  Game cards should be any printed document with first and last names of each player printed as well as jersey numbers.  The template for this may be unique to each club.  

·        Game Duration: 2 halves, 25 minutes each. 5 minute half-time.

a)     Free Subs (at GA Soccer regulated stoppage of play; e.g., goal kicks, throw-in’s offensive teams may substitute, etc).  

b)    Players should be at midfield and off the playing surface until the center referee indicates they may enter the field of play.

·        All players must play 50% of each half and preferably ¾ of a game.

·        Offside rule will be in effect.

·        Intentional heading will not be allowed.  Violation of this results in an indirect free kick per GA Soccer rules.

·        Penalty kicks will be taken at a spot 8 yards from the goal line.

·        Throw-ins will be utilized to restart play when ball goes over touchlines.

·        Goal Kicks: placed in goal area.    

·        At least one referee will be scheduled to officiate each game.

·        Recommended that Goalkeepers must play an equal amount of time on the field as in the goal.

U9/U10 Development Rule "The Build-Out Line"

 

U8 RULES & REGULATIONS

Teams in the U8 age group will be divided into separate leagues for boys and girls. Teams may be co-ed

· Roster Size: 5-8 players.

· Players on field: 5 vs.5, including a goalkeeper (some opponents may play 4v4 without keeper)

· Ball Size: 3.

· Field Size: appox; 35 yards x 30 yards.

· Goal Size: 6 feet x 12 feet.

· Coaches are NOT required to have player cards and game cards

· Game Duration: 4 quarters, 10-12 minutes long.  Half time will be 5. The maximum time allowed for each game to be completed will be 50 minutes.  After 50 minutes the game will be stopped.

· All players on bench must be substituted at mandatory substitution times.

· Substitution will be allowed on goal kicks, throw-in’s (for team with ball).

· Coaches may not enter the field of play unless beckoned on by the referee to tend to injured players. Coaches must remain in their own bench area at all times during play.

· Restart at the beginning of each quarter will be by kick-off.

· All players must play a minimum of 50% of each half and preferably ¾ of a game.

· Intentional heading will not be allowed. Violation of this results in an indirect free kick per GA Soccer rules.

· No scorekeeping.

· No offside.

· No slide-tackling.

· Indirect free kicks only.

· No penalty kicks.

· Throw-ins will be utilized to restart play when ball goes over touchlines.

· Goal Kicks: placed on ground no more than approximately 3 yards from the goal. Opponents must be at midfield at time of kick.

· One referee will officiate games

· When the goalkeeper has the ball in hand, the opponents must retreat behind the midfield line.  Failure to do this will result in an indirect kick.

U6 RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Required Equipment:
    • Size 3 Ball
    • Shin Guards (If player forgets, they cannot participate in contact activities i.e. scrimmage or games)
    • Cleats
    • Plenty of WATER
  • Rules for Games:
    • 4 quarters, 8 min per quarter
    • 3 Players on field at a time *Defender must stay behind midfield line*
    • No Goalie
    • Home Team Coach will Ref game *If no Ref is available*
    • Roll-ins if Ball goes out of bounds on touchline. ---- (Parent or Coach Roll ball to open area on field)
    • Goal Kick if ball goes out of bounds on the Goal Line
    • No Throw-ins or Corner Kicks
    • No in-air kicks ---- (Ball needs to stay on the ground)
    • No Coaches on field during play
    • Handball, if it gives the player an advantage for touching the ball. ---- (In-direct kick, must pass to another player)
    • Substitutions only between quarters or if player is injured.
    • Each player must play at least 2 quarters
  • Coach Mentoring:
    • Help with scheduling practice drills or activities (YouTube is your friend)
    • Help with how to run a game
    • Help with how to ref a game.
  • Always remember:
    • Have FUN and ENJOY the season. It goes by fast.
    • The players are ALWAYS watching how you act. They will give you as much energy as you give them. So stay motivated and positive.
